The Invasion Continues – Next Stop….Maine!

0 Comments 17 July 2012

Shade Enthusiasts,

The Invasion continues! Shade Enthusiast, Reins Hagglemeyer, took the Invasion to the northern part of this great nation with his visit to Baxter State Park and more specifically Mt. Katahdin in north central Maine (yes…the same Reins Hagglemeyer that won The Shade’s 5k last month. What a manly man).

Hagglemeyer not only extended The Invasion but he also helped keep the staff (and Shade readers) informed with a lengthy, informative report. While bits of the report were smeared with bug spray and peanut butter we were able to make out most of it. In the report he posits:

“The park is a twiddlers dream. There is no electricity, running water, or paved roads. The only traffic you see are the lines for early morning poops at the limited amount of outhouses but if you’re ok with squatting in nature no need to worry”

He went on to say:

“Although named Baxter State Park the park is privately owned. The land was donated by ex-Maine Governor Percival Baxter whom was an outdoor enthusiast. Baxter also loved his Irish Setter – Garry Owen, hated the Ku Klux Klan and preferred his PB&J’s with no crust”

Reins the report is much appreciated and your certificate is in the mail.

To those of you out there out of the shade, try to get into it – its cooler here than in the sun. And if you do happen to wander in (by mistake or otherwise) let us know about it.
